The YUR Fit (why you are) desktop app is now in early access inside of the Steam Store for virtual reality. This app is going to work with app PC VR headsets and with all games that can be played on the SteamVR part of the Steam Store. The YUR app is going to be tracking your calories, workout history while inside of VR, and even keep track of personal goals and achievements.

YUR is designed to work with anything inside of VR, as it previously hadn’t in its first release. The only PC game it would work with before was Synth Riders. The only way to get it on your Oculus Quest is through SideQuest. So there really wasn’t another way to experience calorie tracking inside of VR, but yesterday, that all changed. Simply download the app from SteamVR and open it while you are playing the VR game of your choice. It doesn’t require set up, take down, or even extra attention while you are playing. This is the premier way to track your workouts inside of virtual reality.

YUR claims that the calorie tracking is accurate, but we know how hard that can be for any hardware, especially when none of it is being worn on your body. YUR is operating today without any external hardware input into the app other than the movement that your VR controllers and headset give. So when YUR says the caloric tracking is accurate, know that even the industry-leading tech inside of the Watch has a hard time truly telling you what you have burned for the day. Even the Apple Watch has a hard time (and rarely does it) tracking your basal metabolic rate, which is the calories you burn each day by simply being alive.

The app for desktop is still in early access, so you can expect more features to be added when the game leaves early access at the start of 2020. Along with new features coming soon, YUR is also planning on launching a website where you can more easily look at your personal metrics, share your progress, and check the local and global leaderboards for your name.

The app will also be getting a new 2.0 update for the Quest, but the developers from YUR have yet to get support from Oculus. That means that this update will be coming through SideQuest as well, making more users cautious of downloading an update that may be too powerful for their standalone headset.

To access the YUR app with the Quest, the Oculus Link is a great alternative. This acts as a Rift S with your PC and will work with SteamVR games and SteamVR apps that are made for the background. If you are looking for a Quest YUR alternative, look no further than Oculus Link.
