Augmented is gaining popularity every month, and each day people are pushing the boundaries of what is possible through hardware and software. Vuzix is a manufacturer of augmented reality glasses. This company hasn’t found much traction inside of AR up until now. They have recently parted with Zoi Meet – a popular multilingual communication platform – to work inside of their Blade Smart Glasses.

This will be one of the first AR glasses or headsets to translate different languages in real time. This will be a huge step for Vuzix. Mixing voice to text and language translation algorithms, Zoi Meet can give the user real-time translations for 12 languages, and the vault is only growing. The languages are, but not limited to, Arabic, Chinese (simplified), Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

This app will go live shortly on the Blade Smart Glasses App Store. This will allow for hands-free translation while shooting the playback directly in your ear. This will allow you to use it without others even knowing, which can be preferred in some cases. You can also have the option of having the playback canceled, and the words will be written back into the display, making it easy to look at the person you are conversing with, while focusing on what they are saying as well.

Paul Travers, the President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix had something to say about this feature in an official release. He said that “Spoken language is an integral part of communication and bringing real-time live multilingual transcription services to smart glasses really levels the communication playing field for everyone. This application can be utilized by individuals and business travelers alike communicating with others on a daily basis.”

Zoi Meet founder, Nick Yap, also released an official statement saying “We are excited to work with Vuzix and Verizon to bring a powerful language translation and transcription application live on the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses.  Whether you’re traveling or using the Vuzix Blade for business, having hands-free language translation on the display of the Blade is a game changer for face-to-face conversations.”

This will be a game-changing app for traveling, touring, and conversing with those around you. If both users own a pair of Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses, the language barrier can be completely knocked down entirely. If you are traveling to another country and have no experience with their language and culture, this pair of AR glasses are something you may need to invest in.

Although there are a few different ear pieces that can translate for you in real time, those can be a bit tedious and annoying after a while. They often won’t let you heard others around you. Ear pieces are great for one on one conversations, but voice translations inside of virtual reality are amazing for groups and traveling. Glasses are often forgotten that they are being worn, as headphones are always there. If you’re looking for a goof pair of translating glasses, look no further than the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses.
