For some time in the mixed reality world, the leading software was just a beta. Today, LIV ended that trend by releasing software 1.0.

This release gives users plenty to work with. The new software offers a realistic avatar setup inside the software. This is something LIV had promised its user a long time ago, and it is finally here with their new update that went live today. Because LIV has worked hard to be in partnership with SteamVR, these are some of the features that they are boasting with this new software.

No webcam or capture card is required for setup, as they know that not every Steam user is rocking the best hardware and software in the world. All you need for this setup is your compatible headset and controllers, and you are ready to be virtually represented.

LIV is also supporting full-body calibration using SteamVR trackers. Any system that you run that uses SteamVR tracking will be available for this amazing feature. Once you get inside of virtual reality, you will be able yo control and modify your character, all with one controller. LIV believes this is a fantastic idea, but they are open to adjustments. This software continues to be one of the most personal to this day.

LIV is also very aware that many people share headsets with others, and tying one headset to one avatar could present some problems for users. To dodge this problem, LIV has decided to make “multiple camera angles” a feature. This means that multiple people that use the same headers can all access their own headset. In fact, this is what LIV has posted on their official website speaking to profiles.

“Speaking of fast adjustments, avatar settings are saved against a camera profile – which means that you can set up many different cameras, avatars and behaviors all as different profiles. Switch between them instantly now using the profile dropdown”

This seems like something that is not only convenient, but very easy to use. Just by clicking the profile means you can switch avatars. This is something that no other streaming medium has offered to their users.

Another fantastic feature that LIV has bakes into the software is compatibility with Kinect for the Xbox One. LIV knows that not all users are solely on the PC, and making Kinect available with this software is something to take notice of. LIV believes that the original Kinect sensor is still one of the depth cameras available for this purpose on the market, so putting inside of their software was something important to them.

LIV has also included a handful of tutorial videos on their YouTube page to help you get started. Each one is going to teach you something new, and they do it quickly. No video is going to take your whole afternoon, and they include a good amount of screen captures inside of the video as well. With LIV making avatars a real thing in their latest update, this is the best mixed reality software on the market today.
