Dace Central has been making waves in the virtual industry since it came out with the Oculus Quest and released on the Rift platforms, and it has yet to slow down. With a 32 song soundtrack the has hits from the 70’s to now, you aren’t going to get bored of dancing anytime soon. With three new songs getting released last month, people were impressed with the companies ability to keep the music company. But that was last month, and Dance Central keep the DLC coming. Three new songs have been bounced for August, and they are big-time releases.

The songs that are releasing are going to come at a small cost, but for dancing in VR, these new songs are definitely worth paying for. One of the only knocks against Beat Saber is the lack of popular music on their service. Other than the Imagine Dragons pack, we have yet to see anything that will catch the eye of someone that isn’t well versed inside of virtual reality. The product manager at Harmonix, Alicia Caillier said the following in regards to the new DLC.

“Deciding the next three paid DLC songs was a fun process but super tough because we had so many amazing options to choose from. Basically, a lot of conversations were involved to decide which songs to move forward with. One thing that we really wanted to bring to the library was more dance club hits as well as more diversity of performer and genre. We also wanted to bring back songs that we know Dance Central fans already love so that they could experience them in VR!”

If you are an avid dancer, or even someone that simply loves to your body to the music, these three songs will be exciting to play. From the power move of getting “Scream & Shout” by Britney Spears and will.iam, to getting the classic “GDFR” by Flo Rida, and the incredible vocals by Ellie Goulding in “Burn”, the newest DLC pack is sure to please the audience and keep it dancing for the foreseeable future.

With the official drop of the August DLC a few days ago, this brings the number of songs all the way up to 38. If you think that is a good number to take a break at, think again. We can expect more news to break in the weeks leading up to September. “The Dance Central franchise has always been at the forefront of new technology, so it only made sense to bring it to VR,” Caillier explains. “With the amazing support of the Oculus Studios team, we were able to bring Dance Central to life. Being able to experience a dance club without having to leave your living room should be enough reason to play.”

Caillier in the engine that keeps this game going. It is truly a movie-like story for her, as she is in the position she’s in because she started as an intern at Harmonix. She was at Berklee College of Music when they partnered with the gaming company. She is well versed in music games, and she spoke on that briefly to Oculus.

“I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work on different games like SingSpace and Super Beat Sports, but Dance Central has been my absolute favorite because I was a competitive dancer growing up and love dance fitness. I’ve also been known to dance in the halls of Harmonix.”
