The Oculus Quest has had the ability to play games from the Oculus Go for some time now, but the games have bene limited. Now with more games than ever coming to the Quest from the Go, many people are wanting to bring their favorite titles over.
The process is simple and the games ability to play on the Quest is more fun than ever. Getting ups and running with setting your Go games up on your Quest is a simple process. We have compiled this step by step process to get you going with that today. Below, we will be breaking down how to get started, which games support the 6DoF tracking, and the full list of our favorite games on the Quest from the Go.
How To Install Go Games on the Quest
Before we get too fair into this article and we lose some readers, it is VERY important to know that not all Go games can be played on the Quest. Even some of the games that are tagged as ‘compatible’ are going to be a headache to play. It is important to read up on a specific game before you spend any money on it.
To get the game on your Quest, it is more of a process than downloading the game inside of your Quest. We hope this process will change, but it doesn’t seem likely. This is due to the fact that Oculus hasn’t given the Go attention in the last year or so.
To buy any title, you’ll need to do it from the Oculus companion app on your iOS or Android device, from the web browser for the Oculus Go Store, or from the Oculus Go itself. You won’t need to own a Go to do this, but you will need to be signed into the same Facebook account across all platforms that you plan on using.
Update Your Quest
One of the problems you’ll find whenever you try to do new software capabilities is that your headset isn’t up to date. Often times with Oculus products, it is easy to get behind. Luckily for you, you don’t need to be incredibly up to date to run this new software capability. As long as you on version 9 or later, you will be just fine.
To get there, you’ll need to go the settings on your Quest, click on ‘See All’ and go to ‘About’. This will tell you which software you are running. Version 9 is very outdated, but it is going to get the job done for the process you are completing today.
Download Your Games and Apps
There are games from the Go that also came out on the Quest. Some of these developers allowed cross-buy and some didn’t. If they did, you’ll be able to go into the Quest store and simply click on ‘update’ and the game will download itself on your Quest. As of the right now, the list of upgradable games are:
- Ultrawings
- Thumper
- Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
- Virtual Desktop
- Wander
- Virtual Virtual Reality
- Ocean Rift
- Apollo 11
- VR Karts: Sprint

Oculus Go Games on the Quest
How To Find Them
Going this route is a little more back door. If you don’t already own the Go and have these titles, you need to still buy them. This isn’t on the Quest. This can be done on the website for the Go games and apps or on the companion Oculus App.
To find them on your Quest, you’ll need to go to your game library. On the top left hand corner, you’ll find the Oculus Quest icon. Click on that, and a drop-down menu will appear. Click on the Oculus Go/GearVR option. From there, you will see the downloadable games and apps for your headset.
List of Games
There is a long list of Go games that were never made for the Quest but still were able to make it there. The list is still growing, so expect the list to updated as time goes on. Not all of these games support the 6DoF the Quest brings to standalone gaming, but we will touch on that after the full list. You can find the list below.

Tracking for Go Games on the Quest
The longer the games are on the Quest store, the more time developers have time to incorporate the 6 degree of freedom tracking that the Quest has. The Oculus Go is very simple and one dimensional when it comes to tracking. None of the game that were made for the Go never planned on the Quest.
Most developers plan on bringing 6DoF tracking to their Go games for the ability to port them over. If your favorite title has yet to get the tracking, you can expect it to come shortly. For more VR news and community updates. Make sure to check back at VRGear.com.
