Sony has long been known for their exciting exclusive titles on their PlayStation consoles. This didn’t change when the company adopted virtual reality, as they have released a handful of great exclusive games for their console VR headset.

We have seen Microsoft load their teams with developers from top VR teams. Although the company claims this has nothing to do with their attempts for VR in the future, we know the company may just have something up their sleeve. This leaves Sony in a somewhat tough spot. They know and we know traditional game developers are essential for their PS5 release, and they also know that they may fall behind if they neglect the VR side of developing.

Although they don’t want to break the bank and focus all of their content on the virtual side of gaming, we know it will be a good idea to at least target some studios to put work in for them. Sony already has great VR content and studios working for them, but below is the list of possible developers they could buy for making them new VR content.

First Contact Entertainment

Anyone that has wanted to play a good shooting game in VR has played Firewall: Zero Hour. This game feels somewhat like laser tag inside of virtual reality and it is something that you want to keep going back to. Of course this game, like many VR games, has experienced some bad times. That does not take away from the game and the studio as a whole. We already know that First Contact is working on a shoot game for Oculus, but Sony needs to make a move quickly to get this gaming studio.

Impulse Gear

Impulse Gear first made their VR debut with their hit game Farpoint. Nearly as impressive as that, the company played a huge part in constructing the aim controller for the PSVR. This studio knows the ins and outs of the Play Station world, and it would be a mistake for this developing group to slip out of Sony’s hands.

Camoflauj

This studio may seem like a shock to make it on this list, being one of the only big studios to no release a VR title just yet. Worry not, they have something fantastic on the way. The studio has been working on the Iron Man VR game, and it is looking pretty amazing. Not only that, but the company has helped in large doses with the Republique VR title, something that is ported from the standout mobile series. If this Iron Man game turns out the way it is looking, Sony will need to lock up Camoflauj as quickly as possible.

Secret Location

Although this studio doesn’t get the love it deserves, the discussing great VR teams it is hard to leave Secret Location out. They have made Transpose, Blasters of the Universe, and even a good VR movie in Great C. It is hard to discount everything this company has done in recent years. They completely understand what makes VR something you want, and they know how to make a title something people want to experience. If they end up partnering with Sony, they could make something no one else thought was possible.

Survios

Survios has seen such immense success that they may not even be open to be bought, but if they are, Sony needs to scoop them up as soon as possible. For years they have been releasing games and experiences with ease, and each of them see incredible success. This is in no small part to their original ideas. We have seen Survios base some games on other ideas, but for the most part this studio has something that we rarely see in VR developing, and this is creativeness mixed with a passion to make great games.
