YouTube will no incorporate augmented reality filters into their YouTube videos. This will be used in many different ways, but most notably and most recent, they will be giving viewers a way to “try on” makeup before purchasing anything. The name of this feature is called AR Beauty Try-On. They didn’t get very creative with the name, but they did with the product.

Users will now be able to watch their favorite beauty suppliers and apply the make up to themselves in real time. This will change way people will buy products, interact with YouTube influencers, and even how users perceive themselves. You will be able to try-on cosmetic products in real time while still watching the video of whoever is sponsored by the company. This is sure to drive up sales simply from an AR software.

Another part of this this deal that Google and YouTube struck is the variations you can achieve. Along with trying the makeup on during the video, this will also change how ads are played and used throughout cosmetic enhancing videos. Instead of seeing a banner ad, or an ad that plays for six seconds in the middle of the video, you can now be prompted in real-time to try the product on for yourself.

Google has been planning this deal for sometime. In a few underground test that were ran earlier this year, Goole has been lead to believe that over 30% of users who had the chance to use AR Try-On did use it, and nearly the same amount of people stayed at least 80 seconds trying on the lipstick. Now, we are unsure if this is due to the fact that were still in beta resting and it didn’t work well, hence the longer stay. It also may mean that people were loving the features enough to stick around more than a whole minute. There is no way to tell which it is, but we are guessing it was a solid mix of both.

MAC will be the first company to debut their products with the new AR Beauty Try-On. They will start incorporating them into their own videos – and videos from their influencers – at the end of summer 2019. If you are a company that is interested in using this platform to sell your cosmetic products, or any type of product, you can sign up by using Famebit, YouTube’s platform for content branding.

Along with this deal that was announced with YouTube today, Google is formally introducing Swirl. Swirl has been around for some time now, but it has never been fully backed by Google and their new software. This is designed mostly for the mobile web for 360° display and video. This now allows for users to to interact with products they are interested in like never before. You will now be able to nearly hold your new shoes or phone before you get them. This be will be a new fun and helpful feature for shopping and browsing online.
