Last week, Sony announced the 2018 PlayStation VR awards for Japan, and the list has people really thinking.
Before we get too far into this category, let’s remember that this list isn’t the voted best games, but it’s the most selling games in the Asia region in the past year. This already explains why the game released in 2017, Skyrim, made it onto the list, and why No Heroes Allowed made it on. The former game is much better known series in Japan. The list consists of Skyrim VR, No Heroes Allowed VR, and Gran Turismo Sport.
It is a little odd to find Gran Turismo Sport on the PSVR list, as the VR section of the game was very minimal compared to the rest of the game that could all be played perfectly on a regular TV screen. It is disappointing that this game took a spot that a real dedicated VR game could’ve held, rewarding a developer for the efforts they put into their own game.
With PSVR getting much more attention form developers later in the year, we expect to see many more VR-angled games on this list in the years to come.
