Ready. Aim. Fire. Pistol Whip is adding a new song on February 6th, 2020. This song was teased last week by one of the developers. We made out predictions on what it could be, but none of that matters anymore. The level has been revealed and the anticipation is building. The track is named ‘Akuma’ and is made by HVDES. This scene will be a free piece of DLC for all Pistol Whip owners.

The release is planning on being world-wide at 12 Noon EST on the 6th. As most big DLC or game releases, it is right before the weekend. This gives gamers a full weekend to test out the newest level and master it before they are thrown back into reality on Monday. This level seems like it will follow the theme of Pistol Whip; play, have fun, and get your legs too sore to function.

Cloudhead games hasn’t release the amount of scenes after release that many were expecting, but it seems like that theme will be changing from here on out. In a tweet that was quoting a response to them, Cloudhead announced that “New updates are coming every month, each including a free new scene, leading up to E3 2020” You can check out the tweet below for a full look at the twitter interaction.

This is both refreshing and exciting news for both Pistol Whip fans and VR enthusiasts. Although this scene alone doesn’t look like anything ground-breaking, it will be nice to get out hands on some DLC that wasn’t launched with the original game.

Bigger Names

You look at Beat Saber and compare it to Pistol Whip. The similarities are plentiful, but the success seems to be leaning towards Beat Saber after the enormous Pistol Whip launch. DLC, paid or free, seems to be the deciding factor. In the time that Pistol Whip released with one extra DLC scene, Beat Saber has released 10+ songs. Some paid, some free. Green Day was the biggest release. The band is popular among millions of VR users.

If you take a listen to all of the Pistol Whip songs, none of them are mainstream in any community. It is great EDM music, but most players aren’t listening to that in their spare time. Both Imagine Dragons and Green Day have millions of followers around the world. Many of them were brought to VR because of the collaboration. If Pistol Whip is wanting to see the same mass adoption, they’ll need to pull in some artist’s fan bases. No knock to the artists on the game already, but some bigger names will be a must going forward.

It will be exciting to see what Cloudhead has in store for us for the next few months. You’ll be able to find all updates regarding the game on VRGear.com, along with other VR gaming and community updates.
