ESL One New York is a major esports event, and it is finally being brought to the Oculus Venues app. This app is available on the Oculus Store on both the Oculus Quest and the Oculus Go. Last weekend we saw the app host three different streams, and we will have them listed below.

What does it mean for you to engage with fans in this new, technologically enhanced way?
Ross Huberman: The addition of ESL One New York 2019 into Oculus Venues presents an incredible opportunity to further engage and immerse our fans. Technology and innovation are at the core of everything we do, and ESL takes great pride in pushing boundaries and limits.
Oculus Venues allows fans around the world to experience the unparalleled thrill of live esports from anywhere.
What can fans expect from the experience?
RH: Fans can expect a high-energy and action-packed experience as some of the best players in the world put their skills on full display. Esports fans are some of the most passionate in the world. You can truly feel the energy and anticipation when you enter the arena, and we are excited that viewers at home can now be treated to that same experience.
Any particular details you’d like to call out? Moments to look out for? Players in particular to watch?
RH: The best of the best will be at Barclays Center this weekend. ESL One New York features six of the top nine ranked Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams in the world. The star-studded lineup includes defending Champion Astralis and home favorite Team Liquid. Another intriguing storyline is the homecoming of NRG’s Tariq, who grew up in Brooklyn.
If people take one thing away from this experience, what do you hope it would be and why?
RH: Esports has often been called “The Sport Of Tomorrow.” Although we feel we’ve already arrived, VR technology further enhances an experience steeped in innovation and technology. Excitement, passion, and the roar of the crowd are all central tenants of an ESL event, and we hope viewers will experience that—all from the comfort of their own home.

The virtual community is a perfect place for esports to show itself. The gaming event is one of the biggest each year, and it was a perfect marketing move by Oculus to get involved with showing the biggest matches from this last weekend. Oculus will continue to out work their competitors, and it shows in the hardware and content reports each year.
Along with showing esports, Oculus is also working with NextVR to show NBA games exclusively on the Oculus Go and Quest. It is a far shot, but one they hope to accomplish.
