HBO has found tremendous success in their series Westworld, and with Season 3 approaching, we know they are going all in for their fan base with the new season looming. This series is a sci-fi western thriller that has captivated hundreds of thousands during its short life.
The premier date of the new season is expect to be in the early 2020 calendar year and is set to be the biggest HBO release yet. The story will still follow the main protagonist Delores, as she finally escapes out of the prison and gets to experience the real real world once more. This is somewhat news to some, but if you have been following the show closely, you’ll know that this is something that has been in the works for some time now.
Last month at the San Diego Comic-Con we saw a trailer that revealed to the public that Breaking Bad star, Aaron Paul, would be joining the Westworld cast. This wasn’t the only addition, but is the highlight of the star-studded crew. We are going to have to wait until the calendar flips to see what his role will be exactly, but we are pretty sure that it won’t be cooking crystal in the desert.
If you have made it this far without your mouth over-watering, we are happy to tell you that a VR game will be made for this popular show as well. HBO has partnered with Survios for the making of this first person experience while you are a self-aware robot named android. Survios is responsible for the development of hit games like Sprint Vector, Raw Data, and even Creed: Rise to Glory. Survios is guaranteed to be bring a game worth playing to the platform of your choice. This game is expected to make its way to every platform, although we are still waiting for conformation on the Oculus Quest.
You begin this adventure in a western-themed house with the task of avoiding your generous but murderous host. The host had recently gone rogue and is trying to stab you, but as you can guess, you ultimately do exactly as the show follows. After you receive your stab to the gut, you are going to be reactivated inside of the Delos Mesa Lab. This awakening takes place during the second season of the show, so already in the game, you are pretty far along.
At this time the park’s robots are already rebelling against the ring leading humans and are being savages within the compounds. As the new scientist host, you are going to be have to navigate the entire laboratory as it becomes a chaotic battleground. “This is a full-length experience. This isn’t a taste,” said Survios producer Michael Patrick Clark during in an interview with VentureBeat. “This is a full product that you’re going to enjoy.”
Adam Foshko, the story narrator and manager said that “I think you could look at the first one as almost a proof of concept. With the way that Westworld, the world and the story, has been evolving — there a number of ways you can think about telling an interesting and exciting story there,” in an interview with GamesBeat. “It would lean toward introspection, because there are a lot of themes that run through Westworld, like memory. How real is your memory of the past? There’s the reclamation of power. It all leads back to a format that’s intimate. … Our approach to it has evolved and matured.”
This game is going to be an exciting one and we are sure excited to get our hands on it for review. Until then, check back at VRGear.com for all of your VR and AR updates.
