Pokerstars VR Review

0

Pokerstars is relatively new to VR, but they built this game like it has been around VR forever. You don’t get a 5 star rating on Steam for nothing. Pokerstars VR is the premier way to gamble inside of virtual reality. There are not a lot of VR poker games, and the success of this game may discourage other developers from even trying. That is how good the concepts and gameplay is.

Am I Betting Real Money?

Pokerstars is a massive online gambling software that uses real money to play, and doesn’t have a high review. Going into this game, you are going to have a healthy amount of skepticism as gambling with a big company like this can often be dangerous. Once the game is downloaded though, all fears wash away almost instantly. You are greeted by the automaton saying that you cannot bet real money in this game, and it is free to play. Phew! Now that weight it off of our chest, let’s jump into this immersive experience.

You may be wondering how fun it is to gamble fake money. Ill break the silence that so many hold. It is fun. Like really fun, and the risk to reward ratio is diminished. This is something almost every betting man wants. The driving force was socialization in this game. Not actually betting money and acquiring other peoples currency, but acquiring their friendship and comradery is the key to this game.

Gamplay

You when finally get into a table in this game, you are placed with 7 other avatars that have all been customized to match your real life self as much as possible. Here you are able to connect, communicate, and interact with others as you have a low-stress situation betting virtual currency. The design and attention to detail keep this game interesting while the game slows down a bit. Everything is as realistic as I’ve seen in VR. This is not only a great way to bet, but a fun chatroom with something fun to do while talking.

You can control almost every part of your hand, especially if you have the new Valve controllers. These native controls allow you to be as precise and secretive inside of the game as you wish to be. As you play, you can learn to pick up clues from other players, because just like real life, their hand and head movements can tell a story of their own when “money” is on the line. When trying to keep a secret in this game, you can turn to the props and customization.

Props

There is no end to what the developers thought of when making this game. They have done such a good job that Ive been caught wondering how far this app could go. Could it be the end of gambling in real life? Could it be an equal opportunity for fun and money making, once real money is available to bet? Here is why I ponder these questions. You are able to eat, smoke, stream TV, and talk all while playing the poker. Once you are comfortable inside of this game there is no reason to leave. With five different casinos to visit, you never get bored either.

You can interact, wear, and even throw all of the props as well. Here is what Severin Rasset, director of the innovation team at Pokerstars says about the game. “PokerStars VR is a chance for us to take this amazing technology and bring something totally unique to poker players. Poker is about interaction. It’s been bringing people together for well over a century. We’re really excited to invest in the next generation of the game and to give players the opportunity to meet in a brand new virtual reality dimension.”

This game clearly has the potential to be even more than it is right now. For now, it is a fun way to relax and interact with friends and strangers alike. There isn’t a better social experience and game inside of VR than Pokerstars right now.
