The HTC Vive has been its closest its ever been to the Oculus Rift in sales in a long while after Steam’s monthly survey has come out.
After the survey has been showing consistent signs that the Vive has been making a comeback, this last month its the closest its ever been. At the start of the month, the Rift was ahead by a slim 1.42%. At the end of the month of November, it dropped all the way down to 0.62%. If the same trend continues, the Vive will soon take over as the best selling VR headset.
Yes the Vive pulled closer this month, but both headsets both saw a small growth in this last month. Yes the companies saw growth at this time last year, but this is more, so it is worth making a note of.
Call it the holiday season, call it what you want, but both companies are doing a great job of keeping their products relevant and keeping new apps coming to their respective stores.
Steam’s hardware survey is not a perfect measurement of retail sales. It scans the different headset when they were actively working, but it’s as close as we are going to get with an opportunity to see something the companies don’t release.
