The ‘Netflix’ of Virtual Reality: Immerse Yourself in a Great Story With Metaverse Movies

0

Metaverse Movies is aiming to be the Netflix of virtual reality. Created by Gamestorm VR, this Kickstarter campaign has the potential to be the next big virtual reality fad. We know virtual reality movies have a place in the industry, but the question is always what it will be exactly. Now with Metaverse Movies, we have a chance for a company to rise to the top of the VR film industry.

“The big vision for METAVERSE MOVIES is to be a growing anthology of short story experiences specifically written and produced to take advantage of the immersive power of real Virtual Reality with its stunning 360° visuals and 3D Spatial Audio to deliver amazing stories in a wholly unique and compelling way. The company says on the front page of their kickstarter campaign.”

Gamestorm VR makes sure to note that these films will be in VR and 4D. They will not be the silly 360° videos that you can find plastered all over the VR side of YouTube. As you can see in the name, these real VR films are also going to be able to be interacted with. When the film starts, you are going to have the option to either have it be an interactive experience or just a simple VR film. With that option alone, Metaverse Movies has the potential to make it big in the grueling VR industry.

This idea was created by the successful film pioneers before them and Gamestorm is openly honoring the greats. Below you will be able to see what they said about the film series before them, and how it is impacting the way they will be doing business.

“Metaverse Movie content is inspired by the past anthology series like; Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Tales of the Unexpected, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits and Are you Afraid of the Dark. Metaverse Movies is inspired by these great series. These short story dramas, thrillers, crime, mystery and horror stories often contained cleverly crafted twists. The social and cultural activity of sharing stories is as old as time itself. Every culture has its own stories or narratives, which are shared as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation or even instilling moral values. With Metaverse Movies you will be truly immersed in the story, be that as a fly on the wall or as one or more of the characters.”

Just about every VR headset is going to be compatible with their software when it officially releases. Although Gamestorm suggests using a mid-level standalone headset such as the Oculus Quest, you are going to be able to access the movies on your Rift S, Vive and Vive Pro, and even the newly released Valve Index. They do not have any plans to make films for the PlayStation VR headset or the Playstation platform.

If you back this Kickstarter you are going to be able to be featured in the films, choose which order they are released in, and even which ideas are turned into films. All of this is going to be pushed very hard on their page for you to back them, but they are sure they are going to be able to reach the target goal in a short time.

If Metaverse Movies is truly able to make it big as the Netflix of VR, they are going to have some serious moves to make. We saw Vreal shut down this month already, and this idea of Gamestorms is very similar. Execution is going to be key going down the stretch of funding for Metaverse Movies.
