Steam Hardware Survey Results for November

0

The November Steam Hardware Survey results were recently revealed, and to our surprise, there wasn’t much to see. In fact, the change of percentages from headsets used evened out across the board. Although the number of VR users on Steam is taking a dip, for now, we believe it will trend upward once again after the holiday season.

It doesn’t help that the highest VR headset ever is the Oculus Quest, a headset that doesn’t work with Steam (sorry Oculus Link lovers). The Steam hardware survey used to be a good ruler for how virtual reality is being adopted, but it no longer serves that purpose. With the Rift S picking up more sales and being used only on Oculus OS, the Steam reports are slowly dying down. The Valve Index should save the day, and they are being purchased by many, but it won’t be enough to drown out the success of Oculus.

Below, we will break down the numbers that have been reported and what they mean for the future. You can check out all of the Steam charts on their website.

Valve Index – 4.83% of SteamVR users

Windows Mixed Reality – 5.08% of SteamVR users

HTC Vive – 32.64% of SteamVR users

HTC Vive Pro – 2.05% of SteamVR users

Oculus Rift – 35.55% of SteamVR users

Oculus Rift S – 14.83% of SteamVR users

Oculus Rift DK2 – .58% of SteamVR users

Huawei VR – .02% of SteamVR users

The red is the change over the past 5 months

The Valve Index is being sold out everywhere, so you can expect that percentage to skyrocket in the near future, but not without the Rift S leading the way for the newest models of headsets. Expect the number of SteamVR users to stay the same throughout the holiday seasons, as it will likely start to share customers with the Oculus Quest.
