Tonight at 8 PM ET Post Malone will take the stage inside of the PNC Arena in North Carolina as well as inside of your Oculus headset. This concert is a part of Posty’s Runaway Tour, where he is flaunting his new “Hollywood’s Bleeding” album. This is the second time the singer and song-writer is performing inside of VR. Last year, he performed his “Beerbongs and Bentlys” album for the viewers inside of MelodyVR.
This is a massive get for Oculus Venues, as they have been working with massive social influencers and popular artists to give their viewers something worth tuning in for. For even the most invested VR consumer, it can seem like a bit of a chore to strap on your headset for some music that you could easily tell Siri to play for you within seconds. But Oculus has pulled both both Billier Eilish and Post Malone in a span of a month, as well as Grammy winner H.E.R., who performed last month inside of the social app as well.
Supersphere is teaming up with Oculus to bring this to the Oculus headsets, and it will be in a full 180° stream with spatial audio included. We re uncertain of how much mobility will be included in this years stream of Post Malone, but we are hoping for a similar experience that we had last year inside of the headset. There was five different spots you could jump to, and there was a full 360° view for you to gander at. Although this year will be half the degrees, we expect a killer performance once again from the top charting album creator in the world.
Oculus Venues is available in the Oculus app store, and has recently been coming pre-downloaded on the headsets that are bought directly from Oculus. This is a social app that is home to many streams and avatars that are active daily. Not only can you find new and fun content inside of the app, but with the microphone enabled, you can create new friends that are fun to spend time with inside and out of the app.
Oculus Venues is not the most popular social app on the market right now, and it likely won’t be anytime soon. With Facebook’s Horizon coming around the corner and hand tracking to make an even more personal experience, you can expect this app to become a sole focus for streams that Oculus provides to the valued consumers.
