NextVR is one of the most elite ways to watch any live events, and they just secured one of the biggest services of 2019. This is continuing with NextVR giving NBA League Pass users a chance to watch some of the games this year in virtual reality. Although the list of games in VR is small compared to the list of all televised games, it is still something to give NBA fans inside of their virtual world. You can check out the full schedule below.
As you can see in the schedule above, you will be able to watch one game a week until the playoffs start in April. It is unsure if you will be able to watch any of this years playoffs, but you will likely see the Finals in June show up on the Oculus Venues once again.
“We are delighted to renew our partnership with the NBA as we continue to evolve our VR broadcast to provide the highest fidelity, most immersive NBA experience in VR,” said David Cole, NextVR co-founder and CEO in a statement. “This season comes on the heels of our recent launch on Oculus Quest. By capitalizing on new VR headsets with next-generation optics and highly optimized architecture, we’ll be able to deliver higher-fidelity NBA VR than ever before.”
“NextVR will continue to provide a unique courtside experience,” said Mike Chioditti, NBA Senior Director, New Media Distribution. “We’re also excited to partner with Oculus again to deliver a communal experience for fans to enjoy NBA basketball in VR.”
The headsets that can download NextVR are the Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream, Windows Mixed Reality, PlayStation VR, Oculus Go, HTC Vive, HTC Vive Pro, Oculus Rift and Oculus Quest. This list is long enough to make any virtual user happy, as it touches almost every type of headset, including PC headsets that usually don’t feature media consumption apps.
The NBA League Pass is a subscription service in which you can watch all televised NBA games, regardless of where you are. If you are a huge Phoenix Suns fan but you live in Houston, you will only be seeing your team on national television once or twice throughout the season. Larger market teams, like the pair of teams from Los Angeles or the pair from New York, will be in front of the al audience much more than any others. If you are wanting to catch all of the action and never miss a beat, you will want to sign up for this subscription. It doesn’t hurt that this service is making a huge appearance in VR too.
The NBA League Pass comes in three different packages, each one featuring something new and purchase worthy. The most expensive service is a light $250 for the entire nine month season. This comes with every game from every team all year, 100% commercial free. If you are fine with commercials, but you want to see every team every night, the $200 mid-level package is for you. If you are dedicated to one team, the One Team package is the deal for you. This allows you to see your team, regardless of location and blackouts, every night.
The mid-level package is the best deal, as the games are going to stop anyway, so you might as well go to commercial instead of staring at an empty stadium. This is an exciting time for Adam Silver and the NBA as they are looking to be more advanced and futuristic as ever. For more VR news and updates, make sure to check back at VRGear.com.
