EDM is a growing genre of music, and inside of the virtual worlds, it is the most popular type of music. If you like EDM, you have at least heard of Monstercat. For the last 8 years of their existence they have been developing and producing a massive amount of new feels for EDM.
Monstercat used to work through conventional streaming methods such as Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer to give their listeners a full range of EDM. Now they have their own service and they are awesome with it. This breaks the limitations of other websites and allows creators and listeners to have easier access to their new electronic creations.
Monstercat teamed up with Psyonix to release a full 18-song album that is played during Rocket League. Rocket League is one of the best console games out there, and their soundtrack has always been one of the best as well. Monstercat has done their part to make sure it stays that way. Now we see Monstercat make their way to VR which is something to keep an eye on.
Linden Labs, who is responsible for the VR social platform Sansar, announced that they are bringing the MONSTERCAT: CALL OF THE WILD EXPERIENCE. In this upcoming live entertainment series we will see a handful of live concerts, exclusive fan quests, giveaways, and even VR meet-and-greets. This experience will be a full of everything EDM lovers would expect from a virtual reality experience.
Monstercat turns eight years old on July 12th, and that is when the festivities will kick off. In this first installment of live concerts, you will see eight different Monstercat artists make their way to the virtual stage. This will certainly turn the regular lobby into a full on virtual rave. If you are interested in participating, make sure you visit the Call of The Wild lobby ahead of time, as there you can find exclusive prizes, quests for users, and even potential music lineups for the upcoming concerts.
“Partnerships like these help us realize the very best of what virtual reality has to offer: access, connection, immersion – the feeling that we’re part of something bigger, no matter who we are or where we live,” said Ebbe Altberg, CEO of Linden Lab, in an official release from the company. “With the Call of the Wild Experience, we’re giving fans all over the world the chance to connect in a shared experience with other fans and the artists they love, but more than that, we’re using gaming to elevate the concert experience – questing, raffles, special in-game prizes, across both VR and PC. This is the future of live music, and we’re excited to have Monstercat on board.”
As mentioned above, the experience will also be able to be had while on a PC. This comes as no surprise, as you will be able to access any Sansar location on your PC along with your VR headset.
After the rager on the 12th of July, you are going to be able to experience a new concert every Wednesday at 3 PM EST. All of this will be available through the Sansar experiences.
“We’re offering our fans something truly unique in the MONSTERCAT: CALL OF THE WILD EXPERIENCE: their own space to meet, connect and share creative ideas with each other,” said Dan Scarcelli, in the same release. “Social VR has the power to transform how communities gather online, and we’re thrilled to be leading the charge with Sansar.”
Gavin Johnson, the head of gaming at Monstercat added that “The Sansar team has been amazing to work with, they really went the distance from conceptualization to launch to make sure the Monstercat world was as imagined by our team.”
Sansar is elite when it comes to social experiences inside of virtual reality, and we can expect this to add to their impressive resume of good places to be virtually.
