HTC Launches New Vive Enterprise Solutions To Separate Their Consumer and Enterprise VR Hardware

0

HTC Vive is set to release their new consumer-based virtual reality headset in the coming months. HTC took some time to make clear what the intended purpose was, but it has become more and more clear. The Vive Cosmos is intended for PC gaming through virtual reality, and will serve no good purpose for any business.

To minimize this problem in the future of their headsets and accessories, HTC is planning on launching the “Vive Enterprise Solutions”. This will help the company be clear on what each of their products are intended to do and what they are supposed to be used for. This is going to be an umbrella term that is going to serve in their “new business unit”.

Already we see that the Vive Pro, the Vive Pro Eye, and both the Vive Focus and Vive Focus Plus are included inside of this group of enterprise virtual reality headsets. In this press release HTC also mentioned how they are going to be working with customers through service to help provide specific solutions to their problems. This is an exciting time for the business-minded side of HTC Vive.

“We will continue to have consumer-focused product lines and with today’s announcement [of] enterprise-specific ones,” a Vive spokesperson said in an email to UploadVR. “The announcement from this morning focuses on developing an all-up enterprise strategy in specific use-cases. For instance, we’ve found our customers need more than just a Vive headset to deploy, so we’re focused on building those specific uses in training, collaboration, design and location based entertainment (LBE).”

The timing of this move does not surprise many, as the Vive Cosmos and the mods for it should be hitting the shelves fairly quickly. With plenty of modifications and extra hardware going to be available to customers, this is going to be incredibly important to keep the two different sides of Vive apart. This is the first gaming headset from HTC Vive since 2016 when it released the original Vive. The company is clearly obsessed with doing this process right, and we couldn’t be happier about it.

The Cosmos is the first HTC headset to not use Valve tracking, and instead use the Vive Tracking System. This new system from Vive is an inside-out system that will feature up to six cameras, that also offer six different degrees of freedom. The Oculus Rift S has already incorporated this system and did well, so we are all anxious and curious to see how HTC did on their newest products for the common consumer.

The Vive Enterprise Solutions should be launching within the next few months, but Vive has given no indication of what should be included and what will be left out. We anticipate that the headsets themselves will be in the business side, but we don’t know what accessories will be included for business, and what add-ons will be included for people looking to simply game with a headset on.

It will be interesting to see if this means that HTC will be making a new line of mods for their business headsets. This is something that we have anticipated in the past, and something we believe could help the company grow even more.

HTC Vive has yet to respond if they will still be selling the original Vive after the release of the Vive Cosmos. We know this headset is supposed to be something special in the eyes of gamers, but we are unsure if it is anticipated to be the next headset in line, or simply another options for consumers.
