Ever since the introduction of the digital world, people have longed for the chance to make it easier to access. As time goes on, more of our lives are uploaded to the cloud and we rely on it more and more each day. The same goes for wearables, which have been bombarding everyone for the last 10 years. If there is an Apple Phone, there needs to be an Apple Watch. If there is a If there is a book there needs to be a digital copy that we can carry everywhere. Everything we are doing as humans is becoming easier to use and more accessible each and everyday.
Sports haven’t taken a step back in technology. If anything, the sport world has been right there with new technology to enhance the performance of each athlete, regardless of the sport being played. One of the leading sport technology companies, FORM, took a massive leap earlier this week. FORM has been obsessed with athletes being the best they can, and they having been using advances in technology in every way they can. This is an introduction to the new FORM Swim Goggles.
Unlike most sport wearables, this will be available to anyone and everyone coming August 7. This is a relatively short turnaround time, and the company is excited to get their product on the market. The swim goggles will be projecting an image onto the inside of the goggles, making the information given right there with the real world through the lens. This will be keeping track of your stroke rate, split times, turnaround times, stroke count, total distance, and overall time. Powered by an onboard computer, the goggles will have the power to do this all in real time, giving athletes an advantage like never before. Included with this whole package is an impressive 16 hour battery life.
The FORM founder and CEO, Dan Eisenhardt knows the struggle of not having these metrics at your fingertips. What is the point of having all of these new fancy numbers if you can’t see them in real time and act upon the? Dan knows what the swimmers want and need in this new wearable technology. He says “I swam competitively for 14 years and really felt the pain of not being able to access my metrics in real time. The idea for FORM came about many years ago, but we are only now entering a time when technology lets us deliver this experience seamlessly in a premium pair of swim goggles. We’re proud that, through a team of top industry talent, we’ve been able to solve a fundamental problem in swimming.”
Along with these new metrics in real time, FORM has made a great app for viewing the stats, controlling what you see, and even receive some coaching from FORM instructors. The entire goggle experience can be had through this app, as it controls much of what you will see.
Scott Dickens swam in the Olympic Games from 2004 to 2012, and he has taken the role of Director of Strategic Partnerships at FORM. This is what he had to say in an official statement. “I competed in two Olympic Games: 2004 and 2012. At the elite level, everything is measured down to the hundredth of a second. Having access to real-time metrics in your goggles is an absolute game-changer. FORM enables both swimmers and coaches to be more in tune with what’s happening in the moment. Even if you’re not a high-level swimmer, FORM makes swimming much more engaging and just plain fun. You always know exactly what you’re doing, and you’re able to compete with yourself while you swim.”
These goggles go on sale August 7th, starting for $199. This is a price point that FORM has worked very hard to maintain, as many know this technology isn’t cheap. They wanted to make the goggles and metrics available to every swimmer at every level. This price reflects that, and should be a great bargain for anyone that buys it.
