Dr. Who Being Summoned To Virtual Reality Tomorrow

0

Dr. Who fans, the time has come. The wait has been long, and almost unbearable, but your turn to step into the TARDIS and choose your next path. This game is making its way to the PlayStation virtual reality headset as well as the Steam Store. Something to notice is the lack of the newer headsets that are supported. It says as of now that the only supported headsets are the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. We aren’t sure if this will change, but we sure hope it does. This game has yet to get an official price tag for any platform, but it is rumored to be between $20 and $30.

Players will be in the position of being able to pilot the TARDIS, the time-traveling machine, as well as many more fun abilities being the doctor comes with. Armed with the Sonic Screwdriver, you will be able to solve some weird yet fun puzzles, fight with some of the series most iconic monsters, and even tear the fabric of reality as you conquer some of the games most notable enemies.

This game is going to have some narration inside of it too, as it is going to be done by the Thirteenth Doctor, Jodie Whittaker. It is rare for virtual reality games to get this much attention from the parent studio of the film or original game, but the entire series isn’t taking this opportunity in VR lightly. This is a time where plenty of virtual reality games are getting great adoption, so going all-in on this game is going to be a good idea for the time being. Of course, none of this will matter if this game doesn’t get optimized for more headsets.

The only headsets that are going to get support as of now are the PSVR headset, the HTC Vive, and the Oculus Rift. If the game developers cant find a way to get the HTC Vive Pro, Vive Cosmos, Oculus Rift S, and the Valve Index on board, they are likely going to struggle getting the sales that they have been hoping for. Not many people are still using any of the supported headsets, as all of them were first released back in 2016. It’s not that they don’t work anymore, but they have been improved upon and the newest models have been on the market for almost a year now.

Headsets aside, the entire virtual and TARDIS communities are beyond excited for this game. It is expected to be available on the Steam Stores and the PlayStation Stores at 8 AM EST tomorrow, the 12th of November. You can check out the official tweet from the PlayStation account below.

As you can see, this seems like it will be a full game. Not an interactive experience, but a game that is going to be regarded as the official virtual reality Dr. Who. This is an exciting time for virtual TARDIS fans and regular virtual fans alike. For more VR news and gaming updates, make sure to check back at VRGear.com
